About this artwork
In an extensive series of now 24 drawings with stone images – the “Visbek Cycle”, I dealt with the mysticism of the over 4000 year old megalithic complex “Visbeker Braut”, which lies between Wildeshausen and Ahlhorn, about 40 km south of Oldenburg.
The entire complex encompasses a rectangular area measuring 7 x 80 m, where approximately 100 large stones form an impressive border. Particularly striking, however, are the four mighty stones on the… southwestern narrow side, which are 2.50 m high. They are the focal point of the two-part drawing "Moon over Visbek Bride," bathed in dramatic moonlight. The intensely colorful, dim atmosphere creates an atmospherically charged effect, thus underscoring the power of the mighty stones from the side perspective.
