About this artwork
Natural phenomena play a major role in my series of three-part, large-format colored pencil drawings.
On the Baltic Sea coast near Nienhagen, there's a small beech forest where you can sometimes experience magical moments. On some summer evenings, when the evening sun is still low over the sea, the sun's rays reflected from the water's surface are spread out into the spectrum of colors and reflected as intensely colored patches of light on the tree… trunks, enchanting the small forest for a few moments – before the magic dissipates again after a short time.
In the triptych "Enchanted Forest," the play of light and shadow vibrates to create a mysterious atmosphere. I wanted to capture the quiet strength and mystical character of nature, which visualizes both tranquility and a deep spiritual energy.
