About this artwork
A powerful, dynamic upward movement from the depths, initially in dark lines, which increasingly merge with the warm sienna tone as they move upwards, ultimately becoming the dominant color. A second track, initially running parallel, takes up a downward movement that is clearly separated from the upward movement.
Lines of warm sienna-colored pigments leave traces as if drawn by invisible centrifugal forces, forming broad stripes of initially strong… warmth, decreasing in intensity over time, forming calm areas of color that increasingly lose color and finally disappear completely into white.
As a trained graphic designer, Norbert Städele primarily uses painting and drawing techniques in his artistic work. With a realistic style and detailed colored pencil drawings, he carefully illustrates his observations of the world. Layers of hatching create intensified colors that bring his themes to life. Städele's art expresses human relationships and social injustices through meticulous observation. He also explores the phenomena of light and color and the traces of human intervention in nature. His work is therefore a haunting, intense communication of his profound engagement with the world.
