It's hard not to have encountered the "mask of Agamemnon." Disturbing, mysterious, perhaps even menacing. I wasn't even ten years old when I saw it for the first time, and it captivated me so much that, today, over 60 years after that first sight, I wanted to recreate its relief. It's one of the synthetic plaster relief bases with which, together with my friend Antonio Bruscella, an abstract painter, we are creating the micro hybrida series, modern… works with a distinct European/Mediterranean connotation. Abstract, yes, but firmly rooted in our culture. This is the prototype created at the end of March 2025, and exhibited at several events in Milan with artist friends from the "Montmartre della Martesana" and "Ponte dell'Arte" neighborhoods, and in Basilicata, including the Provincial Archaeological Museum of Potenza in the presentation-exhibition of the Hybrida project.
I was born in Italy in 1954. In Naples in the 1970s, amid university and social unrest, I worked as a cartoonist for trade union publications, but it was in Potenza in the 1980s that I began my journey into color, always with a figurative-realistic spirit. Since 1996, I've been in Naples and joined Esasperatismo, an artistic movement with which I participated in international events. In 2011, I moved permanently to Basilicata and rediscovered sculpture through my ceramicist friends. It's an old love, always postponed, but one I can now focus on. Now, in my final years, when urgency and ambition give way to idealistic values, I dedicate myself to my work calmly, taking care of the preparatory stages and taking all the time necessary to solidify ideas and concepts. And some may already recognize my signature in this. I live in Basilicata and work only on projects and commissions that deserve my attention and commitment. When I can, I honor artistic events everywhere.
