This synthetic plaster bas-relief captures the mysterious essence of the face of "Girl with a Pearl Earring," a tribute to the Dutch painter Vermeer. The work is overpainted with fragments of metallic light and shadow, creating a rich and vibrant abstract texture. It is part of the microhybrida series, five bas-reliefs that pay homage to artists and cultures of the past. The abstract textures are the work of master Antonio Bruscella. Together, we… are continuing the Hybrida project, whose core concept is antithesis, experimenting with contrasting works that embody complex emotions, in a visual juxtaposition between past and present that illuminates the space with intensity. It will be exhibited at the Provincial Archaeological Museum of Potenza in December 2025. The work comes in a 25x25x6 cm box frame. Exclusive terracotta series can also be commissioned to decorate meeting rooms or other corporate spaces.
I was born in Italy in 1954. In Naples in the 1970s, amid university life and social unrest, I worked as a cartoonist for trade union publications. In Potenza in the 1980s, I began my journey into color, with a figurative-realistic spirit. In 1996, back in Naples, I joined Esasperatismo, an artistic movement with which I participated in international events. In 2011, I settled in Basilicata and resumed sculpture, spending time with ceramicist friends. I work only on commission, on funded projects of any nature and size. The rest of my time is spent contemplating, inventing, thinking, and teaching. I ignore all that is banal and mentally taxing. I love living in Basilicata, where time and haste are strictly forbidden, and when I can, I celebrate events everywhere.
