Three barely delineated human silhouettes emerge at the top of the composition, traced with a minimal line against black. Anonymous and almost spectral presences, they suggest the proximity of others: individuals who share the same space but whose identity remains open and undefined.
Beneath the surface, the paper transforms into a field of gestural energy worked with charcoal and acrylic. Stains, frictions, and shifts of black construct an emotional… territory where a fragmented yellow line traverses the surface like an uncertain, intermittent, and vibrant path, evoking the invisible road that connects, separates, and brings people together again. The figures are recognizable in the distance, while the yellow stroke suggests the paths, decisions, and coincidences that make the encounter possible. The work, a reflection on human relationships, transforms gesture and line into a metaphor for connection: an imperfect, fragmented, and profoundly human journey.
Oscar Azula primarily uses charcoal and explores the figure and landscape, drawing on his extensive academic training in Colombia and Mexico. He experiments with the interplay of light and shadow, as well as contrasting materials and colors, achieving visual balances that embody the contradictions of contemporary life. His work conveys a powerful reflection on our essential connection to nature and seeks to awaken in the viewer a sense of belonging, respect, and vitality in the face of the tangible and human.
