About this artwork
The painting is a reminiscence of Stanislav Lem's fantastic novel of the same name. Solaris deals with humanity's encounter with extraterrestrial life – but also with itself. The tranquil painting depicts a surreal, abstract seascape. A green-blue sea with a coastline in shades of red, orange, yellow, and violet. I painted this mysterious landscape freely, drawing on my feelings and associating it with Stanislav Lem's novel. The sides of the painting…

Peter Stahr works as a painter and digital artist with a background in painting, media art, and web design, having completed his art studies in Braunschweig. He prefers acrylic and mixed media on large canvases, combining pigments, dispersions, earths, and other materials to create complex, profound works that oscillate between abstraction and representation.
