About this artwork
I lived for many years in Cuxhaven on the North Sea coast, right behind the dike with a view of the sea. Evening light on the mudflats creates a special atmosphere with a unique sense of vastness. This view of the sea always stirred a longing for distant shores in me. I captured this view and this feeling in this abstract seascape, which is why I called it "Bon Voyage".
The painting was exhibited in solo shows in Göttingen and Bad Hersfeld in 2023… and at the ARTe art fair in Konstanz in 2024. It features a glazed, shadow-gap wooden frame, whose medium gray tone and frame height allow it to recede into the background, thus preserving the expansiveness of the landscape. Additionally, the sides of the painting are painted, allowing it to be hung without a frame. The painting is signed on both the front and back and is ready to hang. The surface of the painting has a protective varnish layer with UV protection.
Peter Stahr works as a painter and digital artist with a background in painting, media art, and web design, having completed his art studies in Braunschweig. He prefers acrylic and mixed media on large canvases, combining pigments, dispersions, earths, and other materials to create complex, profound works that oscillate between abstraction and representation. His abstract seascapes convey longing, inner peace, wanderlust, and hope, inviting the viewer on emotional journeys of discovery to places of personal longing. In Stahr's works, reality and imagination merge into a powerful visual language that extends far beyond the visible. His compositions are not mere depictions, but transformations of reality; an invitation to perceive the world with new eyes in all its complexity and to embark on a sensual journey between reality and vision.
