About this artwork
From the outset, this piece makes us think of Monument Valley, in the grand canyon located in the state of Arizona, with its panorama of witness mounds and mesas.
However, this sculpture is directly inspired by certain termite mounds that can be seen in South America or Africa.
This mineral structure, built by living things, constitutes the most visible part of the nests of various termite colonies, already present in the Jurassic era.
It represents… a vertical mound with extraordinary thermal and architectural properties.
The BLOCK is a piece approximately 1.15 meters high, which allowed Philippe FARES, through its methodical creation, to remember the earth cathedrals of his youth, spotted in the savannah.
However, this sculpture is directly inspired by certain termite mounds that can be seen in South America or Africa.
