About this artwork
Several geometrically shaped objects—perforated metal sheets, frames—serve as stencils for the broad application of cobalt turquoise and vibrant red. A moment of pause ensues before highly fluid ink is added, weaving the colors together in a single, flowing sequence of movements. The energy begins at my toes, rises through my body, and finally discharges through my leading arm, which guides the foam roller across the canvas. The process arises from… an inner impulse, an almost indescribable pull from the subconscious.
From this impulse, a spatial composition spontaneously forms, in which the various elements combine to create a dense, almost breathing structure that occupies the entire picture plane. It appears as a compression of expansive temporal processes – a kind of painterly time-lapse, reminiscent of the birth of something interstellar, distant yet immediately anchored in the moment.
Rupert Bronner, an architect by training, is a gifted painter, draftsman, and photographer whose artistic focus is on the transition between architecture and fine art. With intuitive freedom and a risky balancing act, he employs bold color choices and material qualities, using his drawings as a guide for his hauntingly abstract oil and acrylic works. His art is a thrilling journey of discovery and a communication of his inner stance, conveying an exhilarating sense of liberation from the constraints of reality.
