About this artwork
This painting explores the dialogue between past and present memory. At the center, the broken circle symbolizes the past-fragmented and incomplete, like recollections that come in scattered pieces. Emerging from it is the star, the present memory-sharp, luminous and alive, surrounded by a subtle yellow glow that highlights its spark.
The stitched edges of the star act as threads of continuity, binding past and present together.
In essense, the work… shows how the past, though incomplete, provides the foundation for the glowing star of the present.
The series began with a desire to bring the intimacy of embroidery into painting. Thread carries with it a tactile human quality-delicate yet strong-and I felt it could embody the invisible links between time, memory and experience. By stitching across paint, I wanted to show how the past is never separate from the present, but always woven into it.
Nature, to me, is not merely a subject but an emotional landscape. My work explores fleeting, often overlooked moments where light, texture, and stillness converge to create something deeply felt. Drawn to flowers, leaves, water, and subtle atmospheric shifts, I use acrylics, watercolours, and occasionally cotton threads to build layered compositions rich in emotion and texture. A recurring theme in my practice is the exploration of women and flowers, inspired by everyday scenes of women adorned with flowers in quiet, unguarded moments. Over time, these works have evolved from simple observations into introspective narratives, where the female figure becomes a vessel for memory, silence, emotion, and human connection. Through my work, I seek to create contemplative spaces that invite viewers to pause and reconnect with quiet beauty.
