About this artwork
When I painted this jousting scene, I aimed to capture the raw energy of the horses' charge, focusing on the knight’s armour while keeping the background understated. This choice was meant to evoke a sense of memory, emotion, and the passage of time. The fiery reds, oranges, and cool blues create a striking contrast, heightening the intensity of the moment, while the dreamlike backdrop blurs into introspection and childhood imagination.
Living on… a farm in Patagonia, observing the gauchos at work, I saw parallels between their labour and the romanticism of knights from my childhood. The painting became a bridge between the real and the imagined, as though time itself were stretching and folding into one.
