Pinolith is a mineral, a semi-precious stone that is found in Styria in Austria. The white inclusions of magnesite crystals look like small flowers, leaves or pine nuts, hence the name Pinolith. It is a very unusual stone with a beautiful pattern. The lower part of the sculpture is patinated bronze.
In this work, I combine the power of bronze with the softness of stone to create a sculpture that exudes both steadfastness and feminine elegance.… The dynamism of the textures and the organic shape of the object reflect my pursuit of harmony between the natural elements and human resilience. This artwork symbolizes the fusion of strength and grace, designed to ignite a unique energy in any space.
« Whatever the material, form or approach, one topic always remains paramount: the human being. »
The path of German painter and sculptor Stefanie von Quast led from studies in painting and graphic design to training in sculpture and bronze casting. She utilizes a variety of techniques and materials to seamlessly transition between painting and sculpture, with particular attention to color, drawing, and surface texture. The focus is on the human being from a unique, positive perspective. Body language and posture intuitively reflect the dynamics of interpersonal relationships. For several years now, she has been painting using mixed media on thin stone slabs, blending the stone's natural grain with the painting. This represents a further step toward merging painting and sculpture. In her sculptures, special techniques create a harmonious blend of stone and bronze. She has been working as a freelance artist for over 30 years, with regular exhibitions, art fairs and numerous commissions.
