A female bronze torso with a picturesque dark green patina. The bronze figure is cast using the lost-wax technique. A male counterpart to this female torso is also available for purchase.
A torso captures beauty inspired by ancient models. At the same time, it raises the question of how much vitality and expression is possible through body language, without the aid of the head, hands, arms, and legs. By working on just a torso, I can capture the… entire body and its language, getting to the heart of physicality. This sculpture emphasizes the beauty of the human form in a serene connection with nature. The dynamic, feminine body is highlighted by organic lines. The bronze material adds a timeless quality, while its patina embodies aspects of age and wisdom.
« Whatever the material, form or approach, one topic always remains paramount: the human being. »
The path of German painter and sculptor Stefanie von Quast led from studies in painting and graphic design to training in sculpture and bronze casting. She utilizes a variety of techniques and materials to seamlessly transition between painting and sculpture, with particular attention to color, drawing, and surface texture. The focus is on the human being from a unique, positive perspective. Body language and posture intuitively reflect the dynamics of interpersonal relationships. For several years now, she has been painting using mixed media on thin stone slabs, blending the stone's natural grain with the painting. This represents a further step toward merging painting and sculpture. In her sculptures, special techniques create a harmonious blend of stone and bronze. She has been working as a freelance artist for over 30 years, with regular exhibitions, art fairs and numerous commissions.
