The elegant bronze figure is cast using the lost-wax casting technique. It has a dark patinated finish, and the cap on its head is polished gold. It is mounted on a marble base. In its hand, it holds a pendulum with a smoky quartz tip on a gold chain.
The tension of the posture creates a moment of balance and reflection. The slender form and alignment of the pendulum speak to the delicate balance in life that we all strive for. This sculpture embodies… stability and the constant search for harmony, and would bring an atmosphere of calm and contemplation to any room.
« Whatever the material, form or approach, one topic always remains paramount: the human being. »
The path of German painter and sculptor Stefanie von Quast led from studies in painting and graphic design to training in sculpture and bronze casting. She utilizes a variety of techniques and materials to seamlessly transition between painting and sculpture, with particular attention to color, drawing, and surface texture. The focus is on the human being from a unique, positive perspective. Body language and posture intuitively reflect the dynamics of interpersonal relationships. For several years now, she has been painting using mixed media on thin stone slabs, blending the stone's natural grain with the painting. This represents a further step toward merging painting and sculpture. In her sculptures, special techniques create a harmonious blend of stone and bronze. She has been working as a freelance artist for over 30 years, with regular exhibitions, art fairs and numerous commissions.
