Whenever I'm at the seaside, I look for beautiful clouds and their reflections on the water. This is no different in this painting, which I painted based on my own photograph. The delicate, light orange-yellow above the horizon combined with the soft blue of the clouds immediately captivated me.
I painted this oil painting wet-on-wet, allowing me to paint the clouds very soft and airy. Later, I added details to the clouds: small waves, curls, or… colored edges where the sun had set. The motif immediately transports me to the sea, to that vastness, calm, and relaxed feeling that the sea conveys to me.
The picture is painted on canvas, which is mounted on an MDF board.
The silver-colored wooden frame matches the motif and its colors. The painting brings a sea breeze into any room.
« The process of color-sensitive, soft, slow painting contrasts with the speed and indifference of everyday life. I take part of my surroundings and make art out of it. »
The perception of Ulla Kutter's environment is shaped by the focus on disharmonious compositions and their aesthetics. The German painter portrays the broken, chaotic, and shining aspects of everyday life in the city. Through her images, she creates possibilities for different levels of perception. Kutter paints using the traditional techniques of old Dutch masters, using oils on canvas.
