About this artwork
I painted a moment here in the "Altonaer Balkon" park. This is a place where people can soar high above the Hamburg harbor area. In the background, you can primarily see the harbor cranes, the Elbe River, and the Dockland building. The foreground is dedicated to relaxation. Various people are reading or chatting, and are there by bicycle. These are the first days of autumn, as evidenced by the colors of the leaves. A branch of a rare tree extends… into the picture from the very right. The ground is characterized by long shadows and fallen leaves. I love these gentle autumn tones, from vanilla to rose to violet in the sky. The warmth of the sun, the rustling of the leaves, and the tranquility of the people enjoying the moment reflect hope and serenity. This work brings vibrant tranquility to any space and invites you to pause for a moment and experience the beauty of the moment.
« The process of color-sensitive, soft, slow painting contrasts with the speed and indifference of everyday life. I take part of my surroundings and make art out of it. »
The perception of Ulla Kutter's environment is shaped by the focus on disharmonious compositions and their aesthetics. The German painter portrays the broken, chaotic, and shining aspects of everyday life in the city. Through her images, she creates possibilities for different levels of perception. Kutter paints using the traditional techniques of old Dutch masters, using oils on canvas.
