About this artwork
The artist was a guest at the Urbanica Art Gallery in Flensburg, Germany for a week to paint live there. For the motif, she asked a street artist to provide her with a photo of the spray painting.
This picture was almost finished this week. It was painted live in front of visitors. Ulla Kutter finished painting the last area in her studio.
The result is a colorful image of a realistic spray situation. The painter hereby takes a clear position in… favor of street art. Four different tones of blue, plus magenta and some orange make the picture a good mood factor. The sprayer is realistically shot. the whole picture is painted in two layers of oil paint. The pink star in the middle of the sprayer's shadow is fascinating!
« The process of color-sensitive, soft, slow painting contrasts with the speed and indifference of everyday life. I take part of my surroundings and make art out of it. »
The perception of Ulla Kutter's environment is shaped by the focus on disharmonious compositions and their aesthetics. The German painter portrays the broken, chaotic, and shining aspects of everyday life in the city. Through her images, she creates possibilities for different levels of perception. Kutter paints using the traditional techniques of old Dutch masters, using oils on canvas.
