This image is about the aesthetics of clouds. They often appear to me as a world of their own, with mountains, valleys, and shapes.
I painted this oil painting wet-on-wet, which allowed me to paint the clouds very softly and airily. Later, I added details to the clouds: small waves, swirls, or white edges. Throughout, I kept the color gradient in mind: above the horizon, the sky was almost sandy-colored on the right, with a hint of turquoise on… the left. The subject immediately takes me back to the sea.
The painting is on canvas, which is mounted on an MDF board. The frame is silver and made of wood. The painting depicts the moment when sky and sea appear gentle yet majestic – an invitation to recharge inwardly and experience freedom. This painting brings a calm, liberating energy to any room and reminds us to see beauty in the ephemeral.
« The process of color-sensitive, soft, slow painting contrasts with the speed and indifference of everyday life. I take part of my surroundings and make art out of it. »
The perception of Ulla Kutter's environment is shaped by the focus on disharmonious compositions and their aesthetics. The German painter portrays the broken, chaotic, and shining aspects of everyday life in the city. Through her images, she creates possibilities for different levels of perception. Kutter paints using the traditional techniques of old Dutch masters, using oils on canvas.
