About this artwork
In this painting, I explore the fragile boundary between consciousness and transformation. The figure emerges from flowing pigments, as if thought itself is dissolving into light and water. I was drawn to the quiet power of a mind in transition — the stillness before awakening. The textures of blue, gold, and crimson represent different emotional frequencies: memory, awareness, and renewal.
When I painted this work, I felt as though I were sculpting… a living thought — one that breathes between the tangible and the imagined. It is about listening to the silent voice within, the one that guides us through chaos toward inner clarity. For me, this piece is both a portrait of the soul and a meditation on how beauty can arise from dissolution.

Wei Xue is a self-taught artist with a background in mechanical engineering, working fluidly across painting, sculpture, mixed media, and tactile materials such as linen, burlap, and rice paper.
