About this artwork
When I painted Blazing Tranquility, I wanted to express the paradox of calmness and intensity coexisting within nature and within ourselves. The vast blue field carries a sense of stillness, while the bursts of fiery orange embody passion and transformation. For me, this work is about balance—how silence can burn brightly, and how energy can also be serene. I hope viewers feel both peace and vitality as they enter this space of contrasts.

April Xue is a New York–based contemporary abstract artist with a background in mechanical engineering and computer science. Entirely self-taught, she did not come to painting to learn how to paint. She began in 2022 with an urge to express and explore ideas that had long occupied her inner world.
Painting soon became more than a means of expression—it became a way of discovery. Working intuitively, Xue allows ideas, materials, and unexpected forms to provoke one another, opening new explorations of dreams, memory, time, space, dimensions, and the unknown. For her, style is not a destination, but a trace left by exploration.
Within two years, Xue was named to Art Market Magazine’s GOLD LIST 2024. Her work has been presented at major international art fairs in New York, Miami, Paris, Seoul, and Beijing, and her work entered the Villanova University Art Collection following a student-led academic research and selection process.
