About this artwork
The portrait, a delicate pencil drawing on wood, has the old-school charm of the mid-century. Back then, it wasn't a given that young women could pursue their path in art and self-realization, and so many dreams were simply shattered.
My music lessons at the grammar school were terrible.
I didn't destroy the instruments and scores out of frustration. They were largely defective, old materials that I playfully and innovatively used as an artistic… medium, giving them a new form and meaning in the spirit of deconstruction.
