About this artwork
The starting point was an old family violin, which I subjected to a process of deconstruction. That sounds more art-historically sophisticated than simply "destroying" it. I also destroyed or tore up old sheet music, a reminder of my difficult time at high school with a choleric music teacher. But where something is lost, something new can emerge. So I reassembled the individual pieces as a collage, creating a mixed-media work, stylistically referencing…
Cubism, Dadaism, and Pop Art.
As I tore up the cover of the Mozart score, silently saying the letters M-O-ZART to myself, the sight of the Mozartkugeln truly made my mouth water, resulting in a multisensory branding experience: sight, touch, hearing, and taste were all activated simultaneously.
