About this artwork

This painting depicts a street in the old town of Kranj shortly after Christmas. I was drawn to this moment when the festive atmosphere still lingers in the city — the Christmas tree remains in place, the streets are calm, and everyday life slowly returns after the celebrations.

I wanted to capture the quiet transition between the holiday mood and ordinary city life. The colorful facades, softened winter light, and traces of snow create a warm yet… restrained atmosphere. Small figures in the street suggest movement and human presence without disturbing the sense of calm.

Working with textured, expressive brushstrokes, I focused on light, color, and mood rather than precise detail. For me, this painting is about memory, seasonal change, and the gentle rhythm of life in a historic European town.
