About this artwork
I created this butterfly using woodprint technique with ink and acrylic on paper. The natural wood grain became integral to the wing patterns, allowing the medium's characteristics to enhance the organic form.
My palette centers on luminous greens and ochres with strategic cobalt blue accents that create focal points across the wingspan. I used controlled ink bleeding to mirror natural butterfly wing irregularities, while selective acrylic applications… added depth and richness.
This piece explores how traditional printmaking can merge with contemporary mixed-media approaches, honoring craft heritage while expressing a modern aesthetic vision.
The work represents my investigation into transformation—both of materials and meaning—where technical process and organic subject matter inform each other.
