About this artwork
I found a different kind of meditation in this piece - the discipline of carving concentric curves into wood, each groove building on the last in precise, rhythmic intervals. Working primarily in deep forest greens with subtle shifts toward blue-green, the woodprint process creates these beautiful textural variations where the ink settles differently into each carved line.
The spiral draws you inward toward that central void, but the organic nature… of the wood grain and the way the ink absorbs creates natural imperfections that keep it alive. Those few burgundy accents feel like secrets hidden within the pattern, moments where color breaks through the geometric calm. The woodprint technique gives this piece an almost ancient quality - like a carved seal or ritual object. The repetition of the carving process becomes meditative, but the wood's natural resistance creates subtle variations that prevent it from becoming purely mechanical.
