I painted both sides of this sculpture to capture the freedom and lightness of an imaginary sea creature. Its iridescent body of orange, gold, and black evokes a mythical fish, halfway between reality and fable. Each side offers a different vision: one more abundant and organic, the other more structured, traversed by bands of color like successive waves.
Through painted, beaded and dotted motifs of miniature flowers, I tried to evoke the abundance… of coral reefs: a vibrant universe where every breath is color, where every beat of water becomes light.
The copper filaments that extend its silhouette are reminiscent of both fins and bursts of underwater light, giving the whole an impression of movement and life.
Suspended on its base, it seems to swim in the air, true to its name: free, fluid, happy — like a fish in water.
FLOD, a French painter and sculptor based in Spain, works mainly in painting using dot art, spirals and gold; she draws on a self-taught background and studies at the Beaux-Arts in Avignon. Her technique lies between the abstract and the figurative, she gives herself entirely to this indefinite sphere which requires both poetry and mastery of technique. She favors a symbolic, unreal and poetic approach; each work, singular, honors the magic of colors and the generosity of the material. She infuses her art with dreams, escape, and a vibrant joy, deeply touching the soul of the spectator.
