About this artwork
With "Vamos a Rio," I wanted to talk about carnival, this explosion of life where bodies become landscapes and faces flamboyant masks. The work questions the power of collective ritual, where joy, nature, and metamorphosis mingle. We find the imprint of a symbolic and contemporary art, anchored in a universal tradition of mask and dance. Here, the painting becomes a celebration, not only of the Brazilian festival, but of vital energy itself: that… which unites humans with nature, the visible with the invisible. It is a solar and ritual work, on the border between myth and the carnival scene. The mask is the gateway to other identities, it reveals freedom and transformation. The abundant nature is the sign of anchoring in vital cycles and the celebration of elemental forces, and the flamboyant dresses are the metaphor of movement and festive energy.
FLOD, a French painter and sculptor based in Spain, works mainly in painting using dot art, spirals and gold; she draws on a self-taught background and studies at the Beaux-Arts in Avignon. Her technique lies between the abstract and the figurative, she gives herself entirely to this indefinite sphere which requires both poetry and mastery of technique. She favors a symbolic, unreal and poetic approach; each work, singular, honors the magic of colors and the generosity of the material. She infuses her art with dreams, escape, and a vibrant joy, deeply touching the soul of the spectator.
