About this artwork
The abundance and variety of colors and shapes of a summer meadow.
From the darkness of the thickly growing grass, morphologically identifiable flowers rise slightly upwards into the brightness. In the left foreground, the foxglove is reminiscent of the hats of dwarves in fairy tales. Poppy blossoms rise upwards in a triad, delicate and transparent.
Cornflowers, pale mallows and daisies try to come into the light. Purple tufts of marigold conjure… softness with their web of stamens. These wildflowers show the beauty of the wayside; they must not be despised, but preserved.
The inspiration for this picture, however, came from the buttercup flowers. They are shown in various stages of development and run through the entire meadow.
Finally, high up on the edge of the picture, they dance around the pair of doves that coo from the pure white of the paper and gave the flowers their name.
The picture has a double passepartout and is framed (47 cm x 61.5 cm).
« Vanitas resonates in the allegria about the beauty of creation. This calls for striving to preserve the unique creation with gratitude and humility! »
Karin Steffek-Moravia has received major international awards and attracted considerable attention with her exhibitions worldwide. In addition to exploring socio-political issues, particularly environmental protection, she creates "hymns to the beauty of creation" with her transparent, watercolor-based pencil and colored pencil drawings. Steffek-Moravia also skillfully explores spiritual and mystical themes, blending yesterday and today into a compelling harmony.
