This work of art consists of many individual cubes made of stainless steel.
Each cube was sawn from a 20mm shaped tube and the edges were sanded.
Using a TIG welding process, Manfred Hellweger welded the individual parts and then passivated them to create an oxidation-resistant surface.
The artist cast the base from fiber-reinforced and frost-resistant concrete,
which makes this work ideal for outdoor use.
The specially made, brushed larch… wood formwork transferred the lively wood grain into the concrete base.
Similar to the sculpture series “human flow” or “human nails”, Hellweger creates a whole from many individual parts. Each cube represents a thought, an emotion or a feeling in a person’s life.
Dimensions stainless steel sculpture: 80.5 x 13 x 8 cm
Total height: 181.5 cm
Total weight: 32.5 kg
« I have always been fascinated by abstracting the human body in order to depict it in a simple and elegant form. »
Manfred Hellweger is an Austrian sculptor whose works are already represented by collectors worldwide. He is particularly known for his minimalist approach, in which he reduces forms to their essential elements. Hellweger's work embodies the idea that nothing is permanent; everything evolves and changes. Each of his sculptures reflects a deep engagement with the materials and themes he explores. Despite their simplicity, his works are deeply expressive and, by reducing them to the essentials, offer a metaphor for mindfulness and contentment.
