About this artwork
"Hanza" is the rural term for "hay men" in the Tyrolean Arlberg region. However, due to the technological modernization of hay harvesting, these are rarely used these days and lead a shadowy existence. Most have been stored in barns for decades or have been used as firewood.
Manfred Hellweger transforms these nostalgic wooden structures into something new, thus putting them… back in the right light.
The steel rail mounted on the back allows the work to be attached to the wall with 2 screws.
The surface of the work is completely natural.
All sculptures by Manfred Hellweger are unique.

« I have always been fascinated by abstracting the human body in order to depict it in a simple and elegant form. »
He is particularly known for his minimalist approach, in which he reduces forms to their essential elements.
Hellweger's work embodies the idea that nothing is permanent; everything evolves and changes. Each of his sculptures reflects a deep engagement with the materials and themes he explores.
Despite their simplicity, his works are deeply expressive and, by reducing them to the essentials, offer a metaphor for mindfulness and contentment.
