About this artwork
From "The invisible cities": - Smeraldina, aquatic city, a network of canals and a network of streets overlap and intersect... the shortest line between two points is not a straight line but a zig-zag... the the network of passages is not arranged on a single layer, but follows an up and down of ladders, galleries, bridges... The cats, the thieves, the clandestine lovers move along higher and more discontinuous streets, jumping from one roof to another.… .. it is more difficult to fix on paper the path of the swallows, who cut the air above the roofs... and overlook all points of the city from every point of their air paths...-
I tried to capture the essence of this fictional city, a place that transcends time and space. The blue tones and geometric details express a metaphysical calm, while the cubist and surrealist shapes invite a personal and profound interpretation. This work is an invitation to travel with your mind and soul, bringing inspiration into your space.
Maria Pia Mucci, dedicated to painting and engraving, trained in Siena, Trieste and Venice. He uses mixed techniques, from watercolor to oil, through etching and woodcut, in a style inspired by surrealism and metaphysics. Through the themes of the "City" and the "Synapses", he reflects on social evolution and human relationships. His works convey a profound vision of urban dynamics and interpersonal contacts from the high vantage point of surrealism, without ever losing their lightness.
