About this artwork
moi
This was the second in a three-part embroidery series that addressed the theme of gratitude and appreciation. I scattered a few flowers, spray-painted using a stencil, around the "palimpsest collage" prepared and embroidered canvas. The word "merci" protrudes slightly, softly, gently as a tactile reminder of the sentiment, growing outward, towards the beholder.

I poured my heart into this piece, weaving gratitude through vintage pages with… bold red embroidery. The collage of sheet music and text, punctuated by paint splatters, gives it raw energy and a timeless feel. It’s a celebration of thankfulness, blending chaos and beauty, inviting viewers to embrace appreciation with warmth and passion. This artwork radiates a vibrant, heartfelt spirit that will uplift any space it graces.
Paul Bagnulo, a painter and printmaker with a background in graphic design and multimedia, works primarily with acrylic, ink, collage, and found materials. His figurative style transforms the abstract forms of Parisian rooftops—chimneys and eaves—into vibrant compositions, blending precise observation with experimental techniques. His art conveys a sense of wonder and lively admiration for urban simplicity, inviting viewers into an extemporaneous, emotionally charged exploration of everyday beauty.
