About this artwork
moi:
I paint, make art, based on a variety of subjects. Recently I’ve made a lot of pieces based around the rooftops of Paris. An old friend of mine, after getting in touch and seeing my work, said that she wanted to show my pieces in an art gallery she’s opening in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Of course I was delighted and agreed immediately. She just happened to send me a few roadside snap shots of spots she passed on a drive from Houston. I was captivated… ! I thought, I just have to make a series around the theme of desolate and abandoned , ghost town remnants of the Southwest US. This painting, «C&T Donut», is the first in that series. Acrylic, ink and paint pen on an up-cycled linen canvas from 1976, appropriate for the subject matter, bicentennial

The quiet charm of a forgotten roadside scene evokes a sense of still nostalgia. Simplicity, nostalgia, sun baked weathered wood, a humble sign holding stories untold. Bring this into your home, it radiates calm and invites reflection.
Paul Bagnulo, a painter and printmaker with a background in graphic design and multimedia, works primarily with acrylic, ink, collage, and found materials. His figurative style transforms the abstract forms of Parisian rooftops—chimneys and eaves—into vibrant compositions, blending precise observation with experimental techniques. His art conveys a sense of wonder and lively admiration for urban simplicity, inviting viewers into an extemporaneous, emotionally charged exploration of everyday beauty.
