About this artwork
moi
This work, simply entitled "Love" is one in a series of three, all embroidered with a single word of gratitude. I like the fact that the phrase in French, "Partez, et que le Diable vous accompagne !" ("Depart, and may the Devil be with you!") is featured plainly along with the illustrative engravings of figures flowing too and fro, either violently or tenderly, as the juxtaposition adds an added layer of meaning to the sentiment expressed by… the bold, red threaded word. Flowers are strewn across the collage of vintage, found pages, in a festive, celebratory manner.

This piece bursts with passion and tenderness, bringing warmth through its rich textures and deep red embroidery. I layered vintage sheet music and delicate floral collages to evoke nostalgia and romance, weaving together memories and emotions. It radiates a gentle energy that fills your space with heartfelt connection and timeless beauty, reminding us of love's enduring power in every moment.
Paul Bagnulo, a painter and printmaker with a background in graphic design and multimedia, works primarily with acrylic, ink, collage, and found materials. His figurative style transforms the abstract forms of Parisian rooftops—chimneys and eaves—into vibrant compositions, blending precise observation with experimental techniques. His art conveys a sense of wonder and lively admiration for urban simplicity, inviting viewers into an extemporaneous, emotionally charged exploration of everyday beauty.
