About this artwork

'The quiet of Venice pulsates a silent charm. The activity and bustle sleeps before the hazy rise of morning. Sun breaks through to shine life as the scene homes into view. Like a big ripple on the water, the scene unfolds before our eyes.'
This semi abstract piece was created as an explosion of colour and an expression of the exciting and romantic aura of Venice. Using non linear composites of different parts of the city in a mix of mediums, I want… to portray a heightened take on Venice in which abstract and literal flowed together in a way that was about an expression of the aura of the city, rather than a literal depiction. Child like bursts of colour spontaneously intermingle with structural suggestions of the buildings, as well as the weathered texture of the architecture.
This piece was about viewing the city landscape with fresh and creative eyes, and capturing the fragmented nature of the most potent details of Venice.
