About this artwork
The final study in the Sant Antoni series captures the jubilant conclusion of the two-day festival in Pollença. The scene is set in the aftermath of the "tree climbing extravaganza," a traditional competition where a greased 20-meter pine tree is scaled to release a shower of confetti over the town square.
The composition focuses on the shared euphoria of the crowd, centered around a group of friends at their favorite drinks table. Among them, an… avid photographer points her lens directly at the viewer—symbolically photographing the audience and the artist alike. In this moment, she documents the very artistic endeavor taking place, mirroring my own effort to capture the spirit of the event while simultaneously making the observer a part of the festival’s history. Through a high-contrast aesthetic and a rhythmic explosion of color, the work serves as a visceral record of communal joy, marking the end of the ancient rituals with a radiant burst of connection.
