About this artwork
In this work from 2025, I approach the figure as an unstable field, subjected to conflicting forces that prevent its unambiguous definition. The face emerges frontally, but immediately shatters into a stratification of marks, drips, and chromatic interventions that compromise its traditional readability. This is not a psychological portrait or an image of identity, but a presence in transit. The face becomes a site of conflict between control and…
loss, between the desire for recognition and the rejection of the definitive form. The work thus situates itself in a research that considers painting not as representation, but as an exposition of the process and the risk inherent in the gesture.

Pietro Daresta is an experienced artist based in Italy whose paintings have been exhibited nationally, in France, the United Arab Emirates, and Monaco. His works explore the themes of humanity and its frailties, the passage of time, and the observation of the universe, where everything is destined to change. In Daresta's most recent compositions, he has developed a more personal artisitc approach, moving from the sphere of minimalism and the conceptual towards the informal.
