About this artwork
Freely paraphrasing Goethe's "Double the Pig!", this is about maximizing what seems possible. Lovers of head cheese may forgive me.
The supposedly optimized pig is painted on parchment, which in turn is glued onto a bright blue acrylic base (mixed with marble dust). This construction gives the image an almost three-dimensional effect.
White shadow gap frame. The price does not include the frame – but I'll give it to some nice people as a gift.
Rolf Lorenz works primarily with acrylic paints on canvas and brings a rich background in painting, film, and photography. His technique is experimental, blending a wide variety of materials and uniting classical painting with narrative elements. His style addresses political and social themes, which he powerfully commentates on and critically interprets. His works possess great emotional power: His art denounces injustices, shakes people up, and challenges the viewer to observe and reflect.
