Carefully applied yellow-green strokes are incorporated into a geometrically almost square frame of dark violet, created with a palette knife. Across this seemingly serene surface, hovering in the center of the painting, an energetic arc discharges as if from nowhere, leaving its mark. The surface itself is unevenly divided and partially destroyed. The discharge energy is palpable in the shadow of the coal dust at the base of the line, as well as… in the ejected color elements at the edge of the surface, which extend to the edge of the painting. The entire spectacle is embedded in a serene, delicate blue. The contrasts between calm and storm reflect the highly emotional processes in thought and action, which are what this work is intended to express.
Rupert Bronner, an architect by training, is a gifted painter, draftsman, and photographer whose artistic focus is on the transition between architecture and fine art. With intuitive freedom and a risky balancing act, he employs bold color choices and material qualities, using his drawings as a guide for his hauntingly abstract oil and acrylic works. His art is a thrilling journey of discovery and a communication of his inner stance, conveying an exhilarating sense of liberation from the constraints of reality.
