About this artwork
In this work, I combined the delicacy of felt with the precision of engraving to reveal landscapes imbued with poetry. It was created from four of my subjects in photogravure paintings on photopolymer plates.
Photogravure is a process that transfers an image onto a copper or photopolymer plate using photosensitive gelatin. Used in the 19th century to reproduce images in large numbers, it is now primarily used in the artistic field.
Under ultraviolet… light, a contact print is made on special gelatin paper. The UV light hardens the paper's gelatin in proportion to the exposure. I then ink the plate, and a meticulous hand-wiping is required. 300 gsm paper is used for printing on my printing press in my workshop.
