About this artwork
This image illustrates a central question: What is still art, and where are the boundaries? The classic female portrait from the 19th century, undoubtedly a recognized and revered piece of art, confidently presents a piece of plaster wall covered in graffiti. The mural was obviously cut from its larger context in order to preserve it as a work of art for posterity. In this way, a criminalized piece of graffiti becomes a valuable cultural asset. This… process of re-evaluation and re-evaluation is a phenomenon in art, initiated by artists like Banksy. Today, there are street art museums all over the world. My image is a tongue-in-cheek commentary on this development and a fusion of very different painting styles.
« I like art that combines old and new, is professionally made, has a sense of humor, arouses curiosity, makes you smarter, and which you never forget. »
