About this artwork
Result of a painting project “Studio in the Church” in Münstermaifeld on the topic: I know my heart.
Madonna! I quickly found my way into it and my place in the church. I kneel humbly for several hours at the feet of the Mother of God and try, like St. Luke, patron saint of painters, once did, to capture the vision on canvas. The painting was entirely based on the theme of the Assumption of Mary. In my sketch, the female figure spiraling upwards… floats towards heaven. At the end of the art session, I found a small downy feather from a dove (Holy Spirit?) in front of the altar. Despite its lightness, it had sunk to the ground. Just like my aching knees and the massive, heavy base of the statue of Mary, it brought me back to reality and reminded me of our connection to the earth.
Wolfgang Eberhardt, a passionate painter, discovered his artistic talent through emotional experiences. His figurative works are created through careful use of charcoal, color pigments and binding agents, creating images full of magic and impulse. His art is a bridge of communication, with the aim of reaching the viewer deeply and triggering emotion. With love as his strongest force, he always strives to express true human feelings through his art.
