About this artwork
In my watercolor "Golden Forest," I wanted to capture the magic of light in a winter forest, transforming a quiet moment into pure magic. The warm, golden glow of the sun penetrates the trees, creating an intense, festive atmosphere.
Using transparent watercolor layers, I attempted to convey this luminous depth and the subtle interplay of warmth of light and coolness of snow—the soft blue of the shadows in the foreground meets the glowing gold… and copper tones of the background. Stylistically, the work oscillates between atmospheric impressionism and natural realism, with light and atmosphere playing the main role.
"Golden Forest" represents that moment of wonder—when nature is bathed in golden light and, for a moment, appears perfect. It is a work that radiates calm, warmth, and inner clarity—and carries this atmosphere into any room.
Annett Coumont is a contemporary watercolor artist who lives and works near Cologne, Germany. Using high-quality watercolors on cotton paper from the renowned brand Arches, she creates evocative paintings that explore light, stillness, and the emotional impact of nature.
A self-taught artist influenced by international watercolor masters, Coumont has developed a distinctive visual language that combines naturalistic observation with impressionistic light and a contemporary, biophilic aesthetic. Her work focuses primarily on natural landscapes, capturing fleeting moments when light and atmosphere shape our perception of the world.
Her paintings are intended for collectors who seek tranquility, authenticity, and a deeper connection to nature in their living spaces. Coumont's works are regularly selected by international juries for watercolor exhibitions worldwide and are held in private collections.
