About this artwork
It is a solid block of polyurethane, carved and hand-painted.
In this three-dimensional mural, I have captured that delicate and universal moment when an idea vanishes and the mind is left suspended in a blank slate. A portrait of emptiness, but also of the humanity that dwells within it. Every crack and texture speaks of bewilderment, of pause, of the space where nothing is said and everything is felt.
These mental lapses that suddenly appear… in the middle of a fluid conversation, in which words evaporate, thoughts become entangled... and there remains the silence, raw, unexpected, human.
I have represented that gap between what we were going to say and what we never managed to utter. The sculpture shows a monumental face with a skull open like an empty bowl. The serene gesture does not denote loss, but contemplation: the expression of someone who has, for a moment, silenced their inner turmoil.
