About this artwork
Made of solid polyurethane resin.
As the author of “Serenity”, I conceived this work as a dialogue between the inner form and the architecture of the soul.
This piece is a painting with volume, a sculptural relief where the paint leaves the flat surface to inhabit space. The fragmented face emerges from a stone wall as if it had always been there, slowly revealing itself. It is not a portrait; it is a state of being. The figure does not look at… the viewer: it withdraws, listens, contains itself. That is the serenity I wanted to represent: not superficial calm, but the kind that arises from introspection and acceptance.
The fragmentation of the face serves a clear purpose: the human being is not a simple unit, but a construction of layers, times, and experiences. Each plane, each geometric break, symbolizes a decision, a wound overcome, an idea assimilated. Even so, the whole remains harmonious, because serenity does not eliminate complexity: it orders it.
Antonio Gea Pérez, a self-taught artist, fuses painting and sculpture, creating large-format, three-dimensional works in polychrome polyurethane, where each piece is unique and certified. His technique consists of carving curves and surfaces to give volume and dynamism to his distinctive contemporary art compositions. He depicts scenes of life, exploring humanity and nature, conveying the tangible emotion of life like a puzzle full of profound meaning.
