About this artwork
It is a three-dimensional painting, carved from a solid block of polyurethane.
“Genesis” is a work conceived as a material manifesto on the origin: not only of life, but of consciousness, form and time.
As an artist, I have worked with volume as my primary language. The embryonic figure emerges in relief from the stone surface, not added, but revealed, as if it had always been there and the work consisted of removing from time what concealed it.… The fetal body is not a literal anatomical representation, but a universal symbol of the beginning, curled up upon itself, in a posture of protection and absolute potential. It is the promise before the gesture, the idea before the word.
The concentric rings surrounding the figure act as primordial waves: they simultaneously evoke the womb, the original sound, the expansion of the universe, and the imprint of time on matter. Each circle is a vibration, a stage, a memory.
Antonio Gea Pérez, a self-taught artist, fuses painting and sculpture, creating large-format, three-dimensional works in polychrome polyurethane, where each piece is unique and certified. His technique consists of carving curves and surfaces to give volume and dynamism to his distinctive contemporary art compositions. He depicts scenes of life, exploring humanity and nature, conveying the tangible emotion of life like a puzzle full of profound meaning.
