About this artwork
We had never seen poppies quite like these before.
Their petals felt almost impossible — somewhere between silk, fire, and crumpled paper — delicate yet full of movement and emotion. When two of the upper blooms gently touched, the composition suddenly transformed from a botanical study into something more human: tenderness, closeness, quiet affection.
Captured through ultra-high-resolution scannography, the work preserves the fragile textures… and subtle imperfections that make these flowers feel alive. The flowing stems create a soft choreography across the composition, while the deep black background allows the flowers to emerge almost like memories suspended in darkness.
“Orange Champagne” is not simply about flowers.
It is about warmth, intimacy, and the rare beauty of fleeting moments that almost disappear as soon as we notice them.
Botanica Lumen creates large-scale botanical photographic works from real botanical specimens, captured through ultra-high-resolution scannography.
Founded by Anna Surdacka and Luis Fernandez, the studio brings together botanical knowledge, optical imaging, and material precision to reveal nature with extraordinary clarity, tonal depth, and presence.
These are not vintage botanical illustrations, traditional photographs, or decorative floral prints. Each work is created as a museum-grade photographic object, designed to be admired from afar and discovered up close.
Produced with deep black fields, continuous-tone photographic printing, and architectural finishing, Botanica Lumen works are made for interiors that value quiet impact, detail, and permanence.
