About this artwork
In my sculpture Cor Galgo, I address the silent suffering and unbroken dignity of the Galgos – those dogs who are often exploited and subsequently abandoned. Their hearts represent unconditional loyalty, even where they experience pain and loss.
I wanted to make the inner vulnerability of these animals visible without idealizing them. The textures on the surface were created layer by layer to show scars, unevenness, and traces of life – a conscious… homage to imperfection.
The anatomical heart that the Galgo carries at its side symbolizes those who continue to love despite all their wounds. It serves as a reminder that healing is possible – if one looks closely, understands, and allows compassion. Cor Galgo represents strength, stillness, and the hope that more and more of these sensitive souls will find a home.
