About this artwork
Cordis Aranea is part of my Obscura series, which explores the hidden aspects of human nature. The sculpture combines the form of an anatomical heart with the features of an alien, spider-like creature, creating a being that exists somewhere between organism, instinct, and myth.
The work explores the forces that operate deep within us – fears, desires, memories, and unconscious impulses that elude our direct view yet influence our actions. The… spider appears not as a threat, but as a symbol for the hidden structures from which our inner world is woven.
The surface was finished with genuine metal pigments and then oxidized under controlled conditions. The resulting patina and traces of real rust give the sculpture its vibrant, organic appearance. The oxidation process has been permanently stabilized to preserve the unique surface.
